Most people believe we should leave the past where it belongs: in the past. While this may be wise, we must remember certain aspects to understand how history shaped the world and use this knowledge to our advantage in everyday life.

We define “History” as the study of a series of past events, particularly regarding human experience. In the book “Lucius: A Soldier’s Journey: A Man’s Search For Truth,” written by Rev. Michael H. Lavery, the story centers on a soldier’s search for truth. Lucius, a soldier of Rome, comes from a family with a military lineage as old as Rome itself. He is also part of the iron fist that imposes Caesar’s will, demonstrating his loyalty to Caesar.

Our world is an intricate tapestry woven from the threads of history. This labyrinth of moments and memories affects the present state, for better or worse, depending on its outcome.

The Roman Empire is a prime example of how history shaped the world. The people of the Roman Empire are known for their military, political, and social institutions and practices. Through their efforts, they have left a significant mark on the world in various ways. Below are the different ways traces of Ancient Rome can be found in our modern world:

Art and Architecture

Ancient Romans have significantly impacted art and architecture. Roman influence can be seen in various forms and structures in the development of Western culture.

Language and Literature

Many people are familiar with the “Golden Age of Roman Poetry,” where poets like Horace, Ovid, and Virgil created works that left a lasting impact.

Science and Technology

The Romans were great engineers who understood the laws of physics, helping them develop aqueducts and innovative methods for aiding water flow. They pioneered harnessing water as energy to power mines and mills.

Law

While many know that Latin words influenced the Western justice system, the Romans did much more. Their justice system, with its harsh punishments, served as a rough outline for modern court proceedings.

Ancient Rome has left an everlasting positive impact on the world. From arts and architecture to language, literature, science, technology, and law, the intelligence and talents of people in the past have paved the way for us to live a good life today.

Understanding how history shaped the world provides invaluable insights into the lives of ourselves and our loved ones, guiding us to a better present and future. We must remember the efforts of those who brought us what we have today.

Lucius, a Roman soldier in Rev. Michael H. Lavery’s book, exemplifies the people who went to extremes to protect others. The author shares the story of a man who is loyal and steadfast in his duty but loathes the lust for power in an empire drunk on power.

Lucius, like many soldiers who fought for the safety of others, is an excellent example of someone who knows right from wrong and fights for what he believes is right, not just for himself but for the good of all.

Despite all this, Lucius continues to be strong through it all, being a good example to readers who seek strength and an inspiration in their lives. That no matter what, to live life with honor, integrity, and pride is a top priority. Most of all, every person should follow this type of lifestyle and mindset.

Lucius’ life in “Lucius: A Soldier’s Journey “A Man’s Search For Truth” empowers readers to seek the truth in their own lives. Order a copy of Rev. Michael H. Lavery’s book and explore this soldier’s journey!
